Cherish Clarke
Cherish Clarke is a member of the Taku River Tlingit First Nation which is located in the federal riding of Skeena-Bulkey Valley. She was born in Whitehorse and resides in the federal riding of Yukon. In addition to her current position with the Aboriginal Peoples Commission, Cherish is the President for the Territorial Yukon Liberal Party. She also ran as a Candidate for the 2011 Territorial Election. Through the extensive and intrinsic roles that Miss Clarke has played for the Liberal Parties for the past 3 years, she is prepared and committed to rebuilding and fostering a stronger relationship between Canadians and Liberal Values. She states “Now is an exciting and fulfilling time to become greater involved with the Federal Liberal Party of Canada. It is a juncture for growth and for endless possibility.”
Miss Clarke has strong connections to the land and to the people of the North. She enjoys time with her family, hunting, fishing and preserving the legacy of her ancestors. She works to preserve her culture and heritage and is also a member of the Taku Kwaan Dancers and her daughter is a member of Dakha Kwaan Juniors. Cherish’s interests include government-to-government relations, policy writing and development, the environment and addressing voter apathy.
In 2003 Cherish obtained her high school diploma and in 2007, she completed her Bachelor of Science degree where she majored in Computer Information Systems. She is currently working for the Yukon Environmental and Socio-economic Assessment Board.
There are many Liberal leaders of the past and today that are working to improve the relationship federally between First Nations people across Canada, and Cherish is excited to take a larger role in these discussions.
Cherish stated that “It is an honor and a privilege to serve the country and the party I love. It is the inherent knowledge that as Liberals, we have the tools and understanding to strengthen the economy, protect the environment and build long-lasting partnerships for a stronger Canada.”

Mme Cherish Clarke est membre de la Première nation des Tlingit de Taku River, située dans la circonscription de Skeena-Bulkey Valley. Elle naît à Whitehorse et demeure dans la circonscription électorale fédérale du Yukon. Mme Clarke œuvre pour la Commission des peuples autochtones et est présidente du Parti libéral du Yukon. Elle s’est présentée à l’élection territoriale de 2011. En raison de rôles élaborés et intrinsèques assumés au sein du Parti libéral au cours des trois dernières années, Mme Clarke se dit prête et s’engage à rebâtir la perception qu’on les Canadiens et Canadiennes à l’égard des valeurs libérales ainsi qu’à renforcer les liens qui existent entre les citoyens et le Parti. Elle affirme que : « S’impliquer davantage au sein du Parti libéral du Canada serait passionnant et satisfaisant en ce moment puisque nous sommes dans une période propice à la croissance et offrant une multitude de possibilités. »
Mme Clarke est très attachée à la terre et aux gens du Nord. Elle aime les activités de famille, la chasse ainsi que la pêche, et veille à la conservation de son héritage ancestral à l’aide de démarches pour préserver sa culture et son patrimoine. Elle est membre des Taku Kwaan Dancers et sa fille des Dakha Kwaan Juniors. Les intérêts de Mme Clarke comprennent les relations intergouvernementales, l’élaboration de politiques et l’environnement. Elle désire aussi voir à la désaffection de l’électorat.
En 2003, Mme Clarke obtient un diplôme d’études secondaires et en 2007, elle termine un baccalauréat en sciences avec une spécialisation en systèmes informatiques. Elle occupe présentement un poste à l’Office d’évaluation environnementale et socioéconomique du Yukon.
Bon nombre des chefs libéraux d’hier et d’aujourd’hui ont travaillé à l’amélioration de la relation qui existe entre le gouvernement et les Premières nations du Canada. Mme Clarke est heureuse de pouvoir jouer un rôle plus important dans le cadre de ces discussions.
Mme Clarke a déclaré : « C’est un honneur et un privilège d’être au service de mon pays et du parti auquel j’adhère. En tant que Parti libéral, nous possédons les outils ainsi que les habiletés de compréhension nécessaires pour renforcer l’économie, protéger l’environnement et établir des partenariats durables visant à créer un Canada plus fort. »
