Glenn Wheeler

Glenn Wheeler is a member of the Qalipu MI’kmaq First Nation in Newfoundland. He grew up in the Mi’kmaq community of York Harbour, where he has a cottage that he visits regularly. He is legal counsel to the Canadian Office and Professional Employees Union (Ontario) and represents his union on the Aboriginal Circle of the Ontario Federation of Labour. Before becoming a lawyer, Glenn was a journalist. He served for more than 10 years as news editor of the Toronto urban news weekly NOW. Glenn is involved in a range of community activities. As well as serving as the communications vice-president of the Toronto Centre Federal Liberal Association, he is a director of the Multilingual Community Interpreter Services and is legal counsel (pro bono) to the Canadian Alliance of Dance Artists (Ontario), an advocacy group for professional dance artists. Glenn has degrees in law and journalism and a masters in criminology.

Glenn Wheeler est un membre de la Premiere Nation Qalipu M’kmaq au Terre Neuve. Il a passe sa jeunesse dans la communite Mi’kmaq de York Harbour, ou il possede une maison de vacance qu’il visite regulierement. Il est un avocat au Syndicat canadien des employées et employés professionnels et de bureau (Ontario) et represente ce syndicat au Cercle Aboriginal a la Federation du travail de l’Ontario. Avant de devenir un avocat, Glenn etait un journaliste. Il a servi pendant dix ans a l’hebdomadaire NOW de la region de Toronto. Glenn est implique dans plusieurs activites communautaire. De meme il serve comme vice-president de communication au sein de l’Association Federal Liberal de Toronto Centre, il est le directeur de la Communite Multilingue du service d’interpretes. Aussi il est conseil legal (pro bono) de l’Alliance Canadienne des Artistes de la Dance (Ontario), un groupe de defence des artistes de la dance. Glenn est gradue en journalisme et il a un Master en criminologie.
